Q) What is The Proving Ground CrossFit?

A) The Proving Ground CrossFit is a strength and conditioning organization based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are dedicated to the research, development and practice of the most effective methods with which to achieve a high level of comprehensive physical fitness. Our methods are inspired by the phenomenally effective CrossFit programming. Everything we do is governed by the empirical data gleaned from our own training as well as the training of others.

Q) Will doing your workouts make me a better Tennis player, Football player, Basketball player, basket weaver, etc.?

A) Quite possibly. We specialize in training for General Physical Preparedness (GPP). This involves training for the known, the unknown, the unknowable and all around physical capability. I (Charles) am not a Tennis, Football, Basketball, or basket weaving coach. I do not possess the expertise to coach anyone in these specific sports. However, I can help you develop your work capacity as well as shore up your athletic weaknesses which may be the limiting factors in your sports performance. Consequently, you will be able to train at a higher level when you are doing your specific preparation with your coach. We'll help increase your horsepower. What you do with it is up to you.

Q) What should I eat?

A) Meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds. Lots of color. Get off the bread, sugar, sugar substitutes and other processed stuff. Following these guidelines most of the time (occasional treats are ok) may improve you health more than anything else you do (including exercise).

Q) How long should I sleep?

A) Glad you asked! Eight to ten hours per night in a completely dark room.

Q) Is The Proving Ground CrossFit a CrossFit affiliate?

A) Yes, we are!

Q) What is a typical workout like?

A) Most workouts are comprised of the following elements:

--joint mobility/warm-up
--technical review/instruction
--workout
--cool down (static/dynamic stretching)
Browse the main blog and you will get an idea of the nature and scope of our practice. Please note that all of our workouts are scalable and many of our members do not perform them as prescribed.
